How to Secure Graduate School Funding

Join McMasters Masters of Science Global Health student Shania Bhopa in learning about the application process, with tips on how to package yourself as a promising applicant.
How do you find grants and scholarships? How do I apply? What makes me a good candidate?
Shania is a recent graduate of the Communication studies program at McMaster. Shania faced the common assumption she felt as a student from the arts – that it was impossible to enter a master of science program. She pushed boundaries to be where she is today and hopes to help you navigate graduate school scholarship applications, with confidence and determination. As a first-generation Canadian, humanities student, and health communication fanatic Shania will share some of her unique experiences navigating the application process.

It isn’t always about having a 4.0 on your transcript, it is about understanding your strengths as a student, classmate, mentor, co-worker and friend that will shine through in your application.

Shania received $30,000 in grants and scholarships, most of which are from external scholarship opportunities outside of her institution. “I want to offer students the insight on graduate school grants and scholarships that I wish I had during my application cycle,” says Shania.

This webinar will include resources and information on how to find external scholarships and grants, and ways to package your strengths on paper.
*The webinar will be 60 minutes with a 20 minute q&a session at the end.
