Martin Bobak is medical epidemiologist and professor of epidemiology at University College London and head of the Central and Eastern European Health Research Group. Prof. Bobak’s research focuses on understanding the determinants of health in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, with a broad interest in the effects on health of societal, socioeconomic, psychosocial, behavioural and environmental factors. He conducts, with colleagues in Russia, Poland, Czech Republic and Lithuania, a large multicentre longitudinal study (the HAPIEE cohort, over 36,000 participants) on the influences of socioeconomic, psychosocial factors and life style factors on health outcomes during societal transition.
