Teaching Professor Catherine Anderson and Digital Pedagogy Specialist Anastassiya Yudintseva will discuss how Introduction to Linguistics broke free from the constraints of an expensive commercial textbook, and how they collaborated to create an Open Educational Resource (OER) for the course. They will talk about the funding opportunity, the design process, the technology and the flexibility offered by the open textbook. Students’ responses to using the open textbook will also be discussed.
Members of McMaster’s OER Committee will be on hand to answer any questions you might have if you are considering creating or using OER in your courses.
Lunch will be provided and available from 11:45 am.
Register by Wed. Feb. 27, 2019 at 12 noon. Space is limited.
This event is presented as part of Open Education Week, March 4-8, 2019 with support from eCampusOntario and McMaster University Library.
