Dr. Mark Larché, Professor of Medicine and Deputy Chair of the Michael G. DeGroote Initiative for Innovation in Healthcare (MGDII) College of Health Inventors, will moderate a discussion with Dr. Zeinab Hosseini-Doust and Dr. Jeremy Hirota.

Dr. Zeinab Hosseini-Doust, PhD is an Assistant Professor in McMaster’s Department of Chemical Engineering. Her team uses bacteriophages, good viruses that prey on bacteria, to combat antimicrobial resistant superbugs. Since mid-March, she has been part of a team designing test setups for testing the performance of new personal protection equipment.

Dr. Jeremy Hirota, PhD is an Assistant Professor in McMaster’s Department of Medicine. He is interested in how the things we breathe, including viruses, are detected and addressed by our lungs. Jeremy has recently received two grants to develop an optimized COVID-19 diagnostic test that predicts a host’s response to the virus.
