Dr. Hendrik Poinar, evolutionary biologist, professor of anthropology and Director of the Ancient DNA Centre at McMaster, describes how DNA molecules extracted from ancient plague victims have not only led to a new, compelling story of the origins and spread of the Black Death, but are helping revise cultural and genetic knowledge that may have enduring repercussions for our own health.
