The Department of Philosophy presents a public talk with Dr. Jodi Halpern, Dr. Harry Lyman Hooker Distinguished Visiting Professor
Studying doctors and patients during emotionally charged conflicts suggests that empathic curiosity can be surprisingly effective and therapeutic. Investigating successful examples of post-war reconciliation further illuminates the value of empathic curiosity and how it can be practiced despite extreme polarization. These studies provide a pathway forward to addressing conflicts not only in our daily lives but in our highly divided societies.
