What is Discover Science?

It is a FREE new series that will help you discover the fascinating world of science at McMaster. Researchers and professors in the Faculty of Science will present bite sized talks followed by a conversation with moderator, Dr. Joe Kim ’95.

Hacking Exercise for Health: The Science of Fitness for Optimal Aging

In this talk, renowned exercise researchers Stuart Phillips and Martin Gibala will translate the latest science on the benefits of strength training and interval training for health. They will provide practical tips on effective exercise strategies that are accessible to all, including older individuals and those with time-pressed schedules.

Together they will share their wisdom and offer insights to give you the tools to build an effective and realistic exercise routine to maintain strength and fitness throughout your lifetime.

Stuart Phillips and Marty Gibala, together with the Paul R. MacPherson Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Excellence in Teaching, are developing a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) entitled Hacking Exercise for Health, with the potential to reach millions of online learners worldwide.
