A collaboration of graduate and undergraduate students and recent alumni has received SPICES funding from the School of Graduate Studies to establish a Disability and Mad Studies Reading Group. The group endeavors to cultivate an accessible social and intellectual disability community on campus for those with disabilities, developing Disability Studies scholarship, and/or interested in learning more. Anyone is welcome to participate, including community members without affiliations to McMaster. Topic: Children’s picture books with disability themes
Facilitator: Alise de Bie, PhD Candidate – Social Work
Location: Mills library 1st floor – Connections Centre (first room on the left when heading to 1st floor washrooms)
Reading:
“Exploring issues of disability in children’s literature discussions” and /or
“Radical children’s literature now!”
+ the reading aloud of various picture books (feel free to bring ones you love /hate with you!)
