Learn how to get your issue on the civic agenda by delegating to City Council.

Description: In this workshop Ian will walk participants through the introductory basics of how municipal meetings work, how the public can participate, and examples of successful public interventions and advocacy in the City of Hamilton and beyond. Then the focus of the workshop will shift to an open discussion about the political focuses of the participants, and how best to approach advocating to City Council and organizing others to generate maximum material benefits for our community.

Facilitator: Ian Borsuk
Ian is the interim executive director of Environment Hamilton, and is passionate about advocating for a resilient and adaptable Hamilton in the face of a changing global climate through good municipal policy on transit, green infrastructure, and more. Ian is deeply invested in empowering others to engage with local governance. He can also be found wearing other hats organizing and taking action beyond his work at EH on issues of environmental, economic, and social justice on a variety of campaigns and efforts.
