What:
This charitable event intends to engage male-identified faculty, staff, and students at McMaster University in sexual violence prevention through conversation around masculinity and how to be an ally, facilitated by Tristan Abbott of the Centre for Sexualities’ WiseGuyz program. The goal is to begin valuable conversation with the McMaster community around sexual violence, supporting survivors, and challenging notions of traditional masculinity through an interactive presentation. Though the event intends to engage male-identified folks, all are welcome to attend. Raffle tickets to win Ticats or Bulldogs tickets can be purchased, and door prizes include donations from the McMaster Campus store and the Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment foundation. All proceeds will be donated to SACHA.
Who:
This event is in collaboration with McMaster’s Equity and Inclusion Office, the Sexual Violence Response Coordinator, MSU’s Women and Gender Equity Network, and McMaster’s Pride Community Centre. Lesley Stewart of the Hamilton Ticats organization will MC. Tristan Abbott is our presenter. The Male Allies of Waterloo will facilitate debriefing, and the Pride Community Centre and WGEN will facilitate a safer space for folks that are not comfortable going into the presentation.
