20th Annual Heimbecker Charity Hockey game

This annual charitable hockey game features undergraduate students from the Department of Kinesiology playing against their graduate student TA’s and professors.
The game raises funds in memory of Joan Heimbecker. Joan was a Kinesiology graduate student who was killed on campus in an act of domestic violence in 1994.
To honour Joan’s memory, a bursary was established in her name and is awarded annually to the Kinesiology graduate student who best embodies Joan’s zest for life and commitment to community service.
In addition, a donation is made to a local charitable organization that helps support victims of domestic violence, including a local women’s shelter this year.
