McMaster’s scheduled review of the Sexual Violence and Discrimination and Harassment Policies is beginning this spring as part of the university’s regular three-year review process.
McMaster’s scheduled review of the Sexual Violence and Discrimination and Harassment Policies is beginning this spring as part of the university’s regular three-year review process. The review will include comprehensive and campus-wide consultation with students, faculty and staff.
The consultation process will engage key campus stakeholders including:
- Five Intake Offices
- Human Rights & Dispute Resolution Program (EIO)
- Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (EIO)
- Employee and Labour Relations
- Student Support & Case Management Office
- Faculty of Health Sciences Professionalism Office
- Ombuds Office
- Residence Life, Student Affairs
- Indigenous Student Services
- President’s Advisory Committee on Building an Inclusive Community (PACBIC)
- McMaster University Faculty Association (MUFA)
- McMaster Students Union (MSU)
- MSU Women and Gender Equity Network (WGEN), Pride Centre, Diversity Services, Maccess
- Graduate Student Society (GSA)
- Collective Bargaining Units
- McMaster Association of Part-time Students (MAPS)
- Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Task Force
- Security Services
- Board-Senate Hearing Panel for Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Violence
Before the consultations begin later this spring, the review lead team will meet to confirm the details and guide the consultation plan. The review team includes representatives from offices and services at the university who have responsibility for the administration of the Policies or have accountabilities within the Policies.
The Review Team will include the Office of the University Secretariat, President’s Office, Provost’s Office, Student Affairs, FHS Professionalism Office, Office of Legal Services, Equity and Inclusion Office and Human Resources Services.
The review will also include an online feedback survey which will allow for confidential input from all students, faculty and staff. Also in the fall, meetings and focus groups will be organized to encourage even wider input.
The aim is to present revisions to the Senate and Board for approval before the end of the year.
