The future holds many promises for graduates of the new millennium. But for McMaster graduates there are some extra perks that go along with their degree.

Alumni Launch 2000 is a unique event for all graduating students. This year's event, titled “What's in it for me?,” gives graduates the opportunity to explore the wide range of programs, events, services and benefits that await them after graduation. The event, sponsored by the McMaster Alumni Association, will be held today (April 4)at 2 p.m. in UH-213, Convocation Hall.

“Our overall goal of the event is to inform our graduating students of the alumni program in ways that will activate involvement with the University within the first five years after graduation,” says Karen McQuigge, alumni officer.

Organizers hope to add 675 students to its membership of over 96,000. Members enjoy more than 10 value-added products and services. By participating in this program, alumni help to support the activities of the association. Revenue from the Alumni Services & Benefits program provides alumni programming and supports key University initiatives, most recently the University Centre and bursaries for students in financial need.

Launch 2000 participants include: Career Planning & Employment Centre, Athletics & Recreation, the Office of the Registrar, Bank of Montreal, Titles (Bookstore), Fido-Microcell Solutions, Chappell Studios, Manulife Financial. Representatives from the Brantford, MD, humanities and MBA/commerce alumni branches will also be on hand to answer questions.
