Safety comes first as campus truck traffic increases

Students, faculty and staff should be vigilant when walking along University Avenue as a City of Hamilton bylaw change will increase the number of trucks using the centre of campus.

To ensure the safety of pedestrians, it is recommended that any distractions from headsets for musical devices, cellphones or other diversions not be used when crossing central campus, particularly University Avenue.

Pedestrians should also use sidewalks and cross at designated crossings to ensure safety.

McMaster Security and Parking Services have taken steps to ensure community safety and cooperation in response to the bylaw change.
