Posted on Sept. 8: Marauders baseball team fall to Badgers in Blue Jay championship game

The McMaster Marauder baseball team dropped their first game of
the season on Sunday evening when they fell to the Brock Badgers in the Blue Jay Cup Championship exhibition game at SkyDome.
MAC jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning. The Marauders opened the scoring when Phil Stone tripled knocking in Kevin Comiskey, who had reached on an error. Stone then scored on a Todd Devlin fielders choice. The Marauders held the lead until the
sixth when Raul Borjas scored on a Dan Baribeau double. The Badgers tied the score when Baribeau scored on a Chris Coughlin ground out.
The two teams continued to battle until the ninth when the Badgers scored five to put the game out of reach. Devin Cooper secured the win in relief for the Badgers and Symon Caverly took the loss for McMaster. The Marauders used the bulk of their roster in the loss and the Badgers went with their starting lineup the majority of the game, which sets up an interesting rematch when the Badgers travel to Hamilton on Wednesday (Sept. 10) for the teams' first regular season meeting of the season. Game time is 7 p.m. at Bernie Arbour Stadium.
