Earthquakes are one of the most amazing forces of nature. We are all in awe of them as they are fascinating and terrifying at the same time.

Come hear Ahmed Ghobarah, a professor of civil engineering and Joe NG/JNE Consulting Chair in Design, Construction and Management in Infrastructure Renewal discuss the issues surrounding earthquakes.

Ghobarah will speak tonight (Thursday, Oct. 4) in Health Sciences Centre, Room 1A4 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ghobarah will answer such questions as: How do earthquakes happen? Can we predict them? Are they becoming more frequent? Could a damaging earthquake happen here?
