Posted on Nov. 12: McMaster Celebrity Concerts presents BroadwayCabaret/BroadwayJazz

McMaster University will present BroadwayCabaret/BroadwayJazz featuring Melissa Stylianou (vocalist), Kevin Power (vocalist) and Richard Whiteman (piano) as part of its Celebrity Concerts series on Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. The concert will take place in Convocation Hall at McMaster University.
BroadwayCabaret/BroadwayJazz began as a simple idea in a downtown jazz club in 2001. Last season BroadwayCabaret/BroadwayJazz toured Canada appearing in more than a dozen cities.
Melissa Stylianou has studied with the renowned vocalist Carol Welsman. She is a regular in the Toronto jazz scene. Recordings include her 1999 debut CD “It Never Entered my Mind” and her latest release “Bachelorette” (2001).
Kevin Power has received critical acclaim as a character singer/actor from the Times of London to the Globe and Mail and Opera Canada. An original cast member of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, he has performed on most of Canada's major stages as well as London's famed West End, Hawaii and Alaska. Power is a published composer, playwright and creator/producer of BroadwayCabaret/BroadwayJazz.
Richard Whiteman has been a vital part of the Toronto jazz scene since the mid-eighties. His recordings include “This is Now” and “Grooveyard, Avenue Rhodes” and “Solo Piano” CD. Whiteman teaches at the music departments of Humber College and York University.
