Prospective students and their families packed Saturday's open house, checking out programs, labs and residences and meeting faculty from the various Faculties.

Patricia Harris, associate registrar for student liaison, said the central parking lots were full by 10:15 so attendance probably was on target with the 4,000 expected to attend.

Visitors had a chance to take a break and catch
a bite to eat (top photo) and drop in on the hands-on Lego exhibit put on by the Faculty of Engineering (bottom photo).

The biggest difference at this year's open house was that visitors had self-guided tours instead of being shown around by students.

About 30 volunteers manned checkpoints around campus to ensure everyone made it to where they wanted to go. Normally about 200 students offer guided tours around campus but they weren't available as classes have finished.
