McMaster to confer 920 degrees today

Undergraduate and graduates degrees will be conferred on students from the faculties of business, humanities, social sciences and the arts and science program during the morning ceremony. In the afternoon, undergraduate and graduate degrees will be conferred on students from the faculties of engineering, science and health sciences.

Astronaut Marc Garneau and comedian Eugene Levy will receive honorary degrees from the University. Levy will receive an honorary Doctor of Letters degree at 9:30 a.m., and Garneau will receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree at 2:30 p.m. Both will address graduands at the respective ceremonies.

McMaster also will honour distinguished grads for outstanding contributions in the arts and sciences. McMaster's Alumni Association has recognized Leonard Blum and Rajendra Singh as recipients of the 2005 Distinguished Alumni Award. Click here to read more.

McMaster also is honouring two outstanding students, including Laura Banducci who is the winner of this year's Chancellor's Gold Medal by ranking 'highest in scholarship, leadership and influence.' Graduate student Ningning Feng has been named the Governor General's Academic Gold Medal winner for achieving the highest academic standing in his degree program.
