McMaster ranked among world’s top institutions
McMaster’s position as one of the world’s leading Universities has been reaffirmed by a leading global ranking authority’s recent report.
In subject-area grades for universities, QS World University Rankings places McMaster among the world’s top 200 institutions in 20 of its 25 subjects.
The rankings analyze disciplines in arts & humanities, engineering & technology, life sciences & medicine, natural sciences and social sciences & management.
McMaster earned its highest ranking in medicine. It also earned high placement in history, psychology, geography and materials science.
“Our faculty and staff work extremely hard to deliver a world-class education to McMaster students,” said David Wilkinson, McMaster’s provost and vice-president academic. “The University community should be proud of the broad level of achievement these rankings indicate.”
McMaster consistently ranks among the world’s best universities. In 2011, the University moved up three spots to 159 from 162 in the QS rankings, which look at 700 global institutions and is based on student-focused principles.
McMaster also moved up in the 2011 Times Higher Education world University Rankings, jumping to 65 from 93.
The Academic Ranking of World Universities, published by the Centre for World-Class Universities and the Institute of Higher Education of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, ranked McMaster 89th in the world last year – the ninth consecutive year that the University earned a spot in the top 100.
