For the 10th consecutive year, McMaster University has been ranked one of the region’s top workplaces in the 2025 ranking of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers.

“One of our key priorities is championing people and culture, and being selected as one of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers demonstrates how we support our employees through building a safe work culture that is inclusive, psychologically healthy and creates a culture of belonging,” says Saher Fazilat, vice-president (Operations and Finance).

The university is proud to have a work environment that recognizes employees’ diverse needs while advancing the organization’s vision, mission and strategic priorities, says Franca Berti-Bogojevic, director of strategic partnerships and initiatives in Human Resources.

“One example is our commitment to flexibility in the workplace, which ensures our community’s on-campus service delivery while helping employees achieve work-life harmony,” Berti-Bogojevic says.

There are many ways for employees to get involved on campus and build meaningful connections and relationships, like employee volunteer groups, the Black, Indigenous and Racialized Employee Resource Group (BIRS ERG), project teams and committees, she notes.

“We have also recently introduced inclusive recruitment strategies for new immigrants and student to staff career transitions,” Berti-Bogojevic says.

Among the reasons for McMaster’s selection as a top employer is a broad range of benefits and coverage available to employees, including tuition assistance, flexible work arrangements and leadership development programming.
