“It's a tremendous honour and well deserved,” said Jeff Trzeciak, university librarian. “It recognizes Amanda's contributions not only to McMaster, but the broader academic community.”

Etches-Johnson joined McMaster in 2002 as a reference librarian in the Mills Memorial Library, and is currently the user experience librarian.

“Amanda's role is to make our resources and services easier for our users to find and use, wherever they use them, whether that's our website, facebook, or virtual worlds,” Trzeciak explained.

Etches-Johnson is a highly sought-after speaker and teacher throughout North America. Her interests include emerging technologies, social software, educational web design and user interface design.

Library Journal's Movers and Shakers supplement identifies emerging leaders in the library world. The sixth annual edition (2007) profiles more than 50 individuals from across the United States and Canada who are innovative, creative and making a difference.
