championship Saturday, earning their fifth Yates Cup and a trip east to compete for the
Uteck Bowl.
The team stunned their rivals, the University of Western Ontario Mustangs, 41-19 in
London in front of hundreds of boisterous McMaster students and alumni who made the
trip to TD Waterhouse Stadium.
The loss ended the Mustangs' 13-game home winning streak and gave the Maraduers
their first Yates Cup since 2003.
The Marauders will travel to Moncton Friday to take on the Acadia Axemen for the Utek
Bowl, to be played at Moncton Stadium in New Brunswick.
Formerly known as the Churchill Bowl, the Marauders last won the Uteck Bowl in 1967,
beating St. Francis Xavier University 7-0.
The McMaster Alumni Association will host alumni and Marauders supporters who live
in the Moncton area for a free pre-game party at the Delta Beausejour Hotel, Room
Shediac C, 750 Main Street. Friends and supporters in the Hamilton area are invited to
cheer on the Marauders at TwelvEighty pub on campus in Togo Salmon Hall.
The Calgary Dinos will host the Laval Rouge et Or in the other national semifinal, known
as the Mitchell Bowl. The winners of the two games will play for the Vanier Cup.
