The Ontario University Athletics semifinal game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.”]The 7-1 Marauders football team will be looking to move on to the Yates Cup final with
a win Saturday against Queen's.
The Marauders, who finished second in the province, earned a bye into the semifinal
game after beating the Ottawa Gee-Gees 51-24. The Gaels finished the season 6-2 and
are riding a seven-game win streak, while McMaster has won its last six.
“We're playing very good football and we've got a very good opponent, so we're looking forward to a great game,” said Marauders head coach Stefan Ptaszek. “We've got some very talented players on our team. We just need to give them what they need and let them do their jobs.”
The province's other semifinal matchup will see The Windsor Lancers take on the
Western Mustangs in London. The winner of the game will play either the Marauders or
the Gaels for the Yates Cup, the oldest football trophy in North America.
McMaster has won a total of four Yates Cups in its history.
“We're very excited to see what the team can do this weekend,” said Jeff Giles, director of athletics & recreation at McMaster. “It's been a very successful year and we're proud of what the team has accomplished. Saturday's game should be a great one.”
The game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Ron Joyce Stadium. Tickets are
