The seeds of the exchange were planted during University librarian Jeff Trzeciak's visit to Hong Kong earlier this year. SNU wished to send two librarians to McMaster because of the University's international reputation for innovation and transformation.

Librarians Ki Sook Kim and Mi Kyoung Ma will be joining our library team starting July 1 for a two-month visit. Kim, interested in library digitization projects and emerging library services, is slated to work in the Library and Learning Technologies division. She also hopes to gain experience with the library's institutional repository, the Digital Commons.

Associate University librarian Paul Otto, who has coordinated the exchange and will act as one of the librarian's supervisors, says, “I am looking forward to a positive learning experience that will benefit both institutions by allowing us to share ideas and experiences.”

Ma, whose area of expertise includes library instruction, will be working within the Teaching, Learning and Research division at the library. Ma also holds a degree in German Language and Literature and is particularly interested in our new Library Liaison program.
