Incoming students can get a taste of what their first year will be
like this weekend at the annual production of IRIS.
IRIS (Inspiration, Reflection, Integrity, Success) is a theatrical
production staged by six McMaster students and is meant to welcome
students into their first year of university while highlighting the
opportunities, challenges and choices they might face in their
transition to McMaster.
The performance, which has been recreated every year since 2004, also
gives McMaster's aspiring actors the chance to hone their skills.
“IRIS provides upper-year students, many of whom have been or are
currently theatre and film studies students, with a unique and
rewarding leadership experience,” said Michele Corbeil, coordinator,
first year transition. “It offers students the opportunity to develop
theatre, collaboration, communication and teamwork skills.”
Run by the Student Success Centre, more than 3,600 students will
attend performances of IRIS during this year's Welcome Week.
The campus community is invited to preview the show today (Sept. 3) at
from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Michael DeGroote Centre for
Learning and Discovery (MDCL) Room 1305/1307.
