The McMaster Daily News has changed.

The site has undergone more than just a facelift. After serving the McMaster community for 12 years, the Daily News has been re-launched on a new content management system, with a fresh, new design.

With more space for content and rich multimedia, the new Daily News site will better showcase all the people, places and things that make McMaster great.

“The Daily News is visited by millions of people each year and is the University’s primary source for news and information,” said Gord Arbeau, McMaster’s director of public and community relations. “The re-launched site will give us more web real estate, allowing us to better tell the McMaster story to the world.”

The Daily News will continue to run news stories and Worth Mentioning postings, but has also debuted new features, including:

  • a revamped, user-driven events calendar
  • videos embedded on the site’s front page
  • a yellow “alert” graphic, to help notify the community of an emergency on, or closure of, campus
  • a better search engine
  • story categories

Story pages have been refreshed, making them more reader-friendly, and the site’s homepage now showcases many more stories than was once possible.

Social sharing tools have been added to the site, allowing readers to more easily share McMaster news on their personal social networks.

We invite your feedback on both the re-launched site and the content found on it. The editor of the Daily News can be contacted at daily@mcmaster.ca.
