Confirmed COVID case at McMaster (September 13)

The university has been notified of a confirmed COVID case involving an employee. The areas where the employee was while on campus were thoroughly cleaned over the weekend.

The employee was last on campus on Sept. 8. They notified the university on Saturday, Sept. 12 after testing positive and have been very helpful in sharing information, which has helped McMaster respond quickly and thoroughly.

Any contact tracing that is required is managed by public health authorities and they will be directly contacting anyone who would be part of the tracing for this case.

McMaster has developed comprehensive protocols for any reported confirmed case of COVID-19. These have been developed in accordance with public health guidelines and include creation of a university rapid response team.

All McMaster students, faculty and staff are reminded that they must complete a COVID screening tool within one hour of any expected arrival at a McMaster facility and to follow any advice the screening provides.

All employees and students who have a need to be on campus must also complete a mandatory online module in advance of attending a McMaster facility. The training link is available on Mosaic.

If you feel ill, please do not attend a McMaster facility and you are encouraged to seek medical advice. Any McMaster employee or student who tests positive for COVID-19 is asked to contact the university. The protocols for how students, faculty and staff should report any case of COVID-19 can be found here:
