International Nuclear Science Week, happening from Oct. 21–25, is a time to celebrate nuclear research, education and impact. 

There’s powerful nuclear research being done across the globe, including here at McMaster. The campus is home to a suite of world-class nuclear research facilities — anchored by the McMaster Nuclear Reactor (MNR) — where students, staff and faculty advance research that is shaping a cleaner, healthier future for all.

Community Day: Nuclear Forensics & Archeology
Wednesday, October 23 | 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Join Brandi MacDonald, assistant professor at the Archaeometry Laboratory at the University of Missouri Research Reactor, for a talk on forensic sedimentology and the use of nuclear techniques to detect, investigate and prosecute cultural heritage crimes.  

Tours of the McMaster Nuclear Reactor are available before and after the talk.

Thursday, October 24 | 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

McMaster alum and current Los Alamos National Laboratory Director, Thom Mason, will discuss his path from academia to the highest ranks of America’s nuclear security enterprise.
