Update: Department of Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour

Two additional developments have arisen as a result of the university’s ongoing systemic review of the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour under the Discrimination and Harassment Policy.

A former staff member of the Department, who works in another area of the university, has been put on leave after a complaint of an alleged past sexual assault.  The employee is now on an administrative leave of absence and is no longer allowed on campus. In addition, in response to a separate allegation, a current staff member in PNB has been restricted from interacting with students. Both these incidents are being investigated under the Sexual Violence Policy.

The review process is intended to provide all members of the Department an opportunity to be heard, and to identify any required actions to ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone in PNB.

Any students, faculty and staff can reach out to the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office (SVPRO) by email (svpro@mcmaster.ca) for disclosure support, safety planning, academic and workplace accommodations, and reporting options.

Students seeking counselling support may access resources through the Student Wellness Centre. Employees seeking health or other support services may contact Human Resources Health Safety & Wellbeing or Homewood Health through McMaster’s Employee and Family Assistance Program.
