McMaster’s University Technology Services (UTS) has started 2021 with a new organizational design and structure that will align with the McMaster IT Strategic Vision to “deliver a seamless foundation of core and transformative information technologies and services, accelerating the university’s teaching, learning and research mission.”

This new organizational design will provide increased strategic leadership, enhanced service delivery, increasing support for digital transformation and the outcomes of the McMaster IT Strategic Plan, capacity for new services, and a deeper focus on IT/cyber security.

The move to a new structure is intended to be seamless for the McMaster community as the changes involve people and processes within UTS. Although staff have realigned into new teams and reporting structures, UTS will continue to support and deliver all the same services McMaster relies on.

“This is a very good news story focusing on the exciting future of McMaster IT and our collective goals. Everyone in UTS continues to have a place within the department, and positions and job descriptions remain the same,” says Gayleen Gray, McMaster’s assistant vice-president and chief technology officer.

“The journey that UTS has undertaken to arrive at its new structure began many months ago with an internally focused, transparent and consultative process, engaging all members of the UTS team. Our ‘People First’ approach was based on strong two-way communication and at its foundation has been driven by our excitement and belief that UTS has an important role to play in supporting McMaster as it continues to evolve its technology and information systems, services and processes, while simultaneously expanding its collaborations and partnerships across the McMaster IT community.”

If you have any questions about who to connect with for IT support, please reach out to the UTS IT Service desk and your request will be directed to the most appropriate service area.
