University Scholar Prize awarded to McMaster researchers
Four members of the McMaster community have been named University Scholars.
The title is intended to recognize faculty members in mid-career who have already distinguished themselves as international scholars.
Recipients are considered global leaders in a number of diverse research areas and academic disciplines.
Each University Scholar will receive $15,000 each year of the award provided by McMaster provost and Vice President (Academic) David Farrar and the applicable faculty dean.
Among this year’s winners are three Canada Research Chair holders – Prashant Mhaskar, Dawn Bowdish, and Guillaume Paré.
The list of 2018 University Scholar recipients is as follows:
- Prashant Mhaskar – professor, Chemical Engineering; Canada Research Chair in Nonlinear and Fault Tolerant Control
- Dawn Bowdish – associate professor, Pathology and Molecular Medicine; Canada Research Chair in Aging and Immunity
- Guillaume Paré – associate professor, Pathology and Molecular Medicine; Canada Research Chair in Genetic; Molecular Epidemiology
- Daniel Machiela – associate professor, Religious Studies
