President’s corridor gets three dimensional facelift

First year Studio Art students have brought a three dimensional exhibit to the President’s Corridor, located on the second floor of Gilmour Hall.

Studio Art Year One in Three Dimensions is an exhibition of works created in the Dimensional Media Investigations course.

This selection of work indicates a sample of the work produced in the studios that investigate: material and methodological exploration, the visual, conceptual and spatial impact of scale, and the consideration of the tool as an interactive, performative and abstract form of sculpture.

The works in cardboard and the small dioramas explore the impact of scale as it relates to ideas of memory, ritual, unsuspecting presence of toys and bric a brac and surveillance. The tools and respective boxes consider the agency of objects and how they impact our perceptions and behaviours. These objects, in turn, reflect and propose consideration of our relationship to our material world.
