New provincial COVID rules – Impacts on campus food services and athletic facilities

The Ontario government’s new rules for the Ontario Vaccine Passport under the Reopening Ontario Act take effect on Wednesday, September 22.

Proof of full vaccination and ID are required to enter many establishments in the province including restaurants and gym facilities. A person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccination regime, or one dose of a one dose vaccine.  Additional information on vaccinations and McMaster’s Vaccine Policy is available on the Back to Mac website.

At McMaster, a number of food service areas will be limiting their seating arrangements in order to comply with the new regulations, but otherwise these locations are maintaining normal operations.  The university will continue to review the provincial regulations and any additional changes the government may introduce.

The McMaster University Student Centre eating areas will be cordoned off with seating available to those who are able to show proof of full vaccination and ID as required by the province.

Athletic and Recreation indoor facilities (excluding the David Braley Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre) will also require proof of full vaccination and ID in order to participate in athletic programs, sporting events and to use the Pulse and other facilities.
