McMaster’s Dawn Bowdish has been featured as part of a national campaign by the Lung Association of Canada.

Bowdish, an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, is the recipient of a $50,000 Ontario Lung Association-Pfizer Canada Research Award.

Her lab focuses on why the elderly are particularly susceptible to pneumonia, and develops new therapies that bolster the body’s own defence mechanisms.

Bowdish is part of the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research, an interdisciplinary group of researchers putting Canada at the leading edge of the global effort to prevent, detect and treat superbugs.
