Thirty people from seventeen countries around the world became Canadian citizens Wednesday at a special citizenship ceremony held in Convocation Hall.

The event was led by retired linguistics and French professor Gary Warner, who regularly serves as a volunteer presiding officer at local citizenship ceremonies.

Warner himself immigrated to Canada more than 50 years ago.

President Patrick Deane presented the new citizens with Canadian pins, and RCMP sergeant and business grad David Binkley ‘86 gave them Canadian flags.

The event also featured Caitlyn Breukelman ‘18, a music graduate, singing O Canada.
