Debbie Martin named AVP Facilities


Debbie Martin is McMaster’s new Assistant Vice-President and Chief Facilities Officer.

The appointment of the long-serving McMaster leader to this new role takes effect  November 19, 2018.

Martin is currently the Assistant Vice-President and Chief Administrative Officer in the Faculty of Health Sciences, where she has had substantial experience managing and leading complex facility, infrastructure planning, renovations and space planning initiatives.

“Debbie’s depth of experience working closely with facility services and her leadership of significant capital and construction projects will be of significant benefit to our high performing facilities team,” says Roger Couldrey, vice-president Administration.

Martin holds Bachelor of Commerce and MBA degrees from McMaster as well as both the CGA and CPA designations. She brings a deep understanding of the university community, strong communication and leadership skills and the ability to sustain and build partnerships on campus and in the community.

“I am pleased to join a team committed to providing the infrastructure, facilities and supports necessary to advance McMaster’s academic and research missions. This is an exciting time for facility services and the team is fully engaged in helping meet and surpass the University’s priorities and goals.”

She succeeds Mohamed Attalla who left McMaster over the summer to assume a new role at the University of Illinois.

The Faculty of Health Sciences will soon share plans regarding the process to identify a successor.
