“Differential And Difference Equations Through Model Theory” with Thomas Scanlon, Professor of Mathematics at the University of California at Berkeley. The first talk with be “Model Theory And Differential Equations: An Historical Perspective”.

Abstract:
The theory of differentially closed fields has served both as a test case for the development of general ideas in model theory and as a bridge between logic and other parts of mathematics. With this lecture, I will describe parts of this history and will highlight some of the key applications to problems in Diophantine geometry.
