Grade nine students whose parents work at McMaster are invited to join their parents at work on Wednesday to participate in the 14th annual Take Our Kids to Work Day.

This year, students can choose to spend the whole day with mom or dad, or break up the workday with Take Our Kids to Work programming offered through Working at McMaster.

“This is an important day that helps educate young people about the variety of options that are available to them after high school, and it's exciting that Working at McMaster can be a part of this,” says Anthony Celani, manager of the Working at McMaster' Projects.

The day will be kicked off with a welcome at the Ivor Wynne Centre Mezzanine, where participating students will be able to sign up for the events they're attending. Last year, approximately 40 students participated in the day, with events hosted by individual departments or faculties. This is the first year Working at McMaster' has taken the reins.

In addition to lunch and some residence tours, students can participate in career planning exercises, and hear profiles from employees who represent the diverse careers that keep McMaster running smoothly.

But before they can participate, employees need to fill out permission forms and return them to Environmental & Occupational Health Support Services. Forms and a complete schedule of the day's events are available at www.workingatmcmaster.ca/life.

More than 1.5 million young Canadians and 75,000 workplaces have participated in Take Our Kids to Work Day, a national program of the Learning Partnership that began in 1994. For more information, visit www.takeourkidstowork.ca.
