Faculty chair needed for United Way Committee

.

The United Way Campaign Committee is seeking a faculty member volunteer to serve as Faculty Chair. The chair serves a two-year term that begins July 8.

“It has been my honour to serve as Faculty Chair of the McMaster United Way Committee for the last two years. I’d highly encourage all faculty members to consider this volunteer position,” said Philippa Carter, outgoing Faculty Chair. “It is terrific to work on such a worthwhile cause with wonderful staff from across the university and from the United Way. Hamilton has given me so much; it has been a pleasure to be able to give back.”

The committee is comprised of approximately 15 employees, including two Staff Chairs, one Faculty Chair, and support from employee volunteers from across the campus community. The Faculty Chair is responsible for working collaboratively with the McMaster community to drive faculty engagement with the campaign.

McMaster has demonstrated on many occasions that community engagement and service to the public good are core components of the institution’s culture, as community engagement is one of the four pillars of the Forward with Integrity strategy.

The McMaster United Way campaign gives employees the opportunity to actively participate through fundraising initiatives such as the Pull4Mac bus pull, online auction and personal donations, ultimately while becoming more engaged in the local community.

McMaster’s United Way campaign supports the wider United Way goals of helping kids be all that they can be; moving people from poverty to possibility; and creating healthy people and strong communities.
