Remembering Don Green
The McMaster community is remembering former Chair of Board of Governors Don Green who has passed away.
A member of the Order of Canada and Hamilton Gallery of Distinction inductee, Don contributed greatly by way of service and leadership at McMaster. In 2008 Don received an honorary degree from the DeGroote School of Business.
An avid and world class sailor, entrepreneur and successful business leader, Don’s contributions to McMaster included leading the Board of Governors during a time of tremendous growth and accomplishment.
In 1998, he joined the University’s Board and served as a committee member for the Changing Tomorrow, Today Campaign. He was named vice chair of the board and then chair in 2006. He would serve as a cabinet member for The Campaign for McMaster University 2006-2010.
In 2008, he received an honorary degree from McMaster.
“McMaster’s success today and its many accomplishments are due in part to the work and leadership of Don Green,” says McMaster President Patrick Deane. “The University is thankful for his tireless dedication and leadership and our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
In 2010, the board made Don an honourary member.
Don leaves wife Sandy, children Sharon and Stephen, and four grandchildren.
