For your safety, avoid short cuts and stay on maintained paths

Numerous paths have been formed on campus by years of foot travel. These paths have become quite popular as they are commonly used to save time, but pose significant risks as they are not maintained by the University. Unmaintained paths often have limited visibility, may be slippery due to weather conditions, and terrain is uneven from fallen branches, tree roots, and rocks.

The most heavily travelled unmaintained paths are located in the wooded areas near the lower campus parking lots (Westaway Road and Cootes Drive).

New signage has been posted near the entrances to these paths that reads “Unmaintained Trail – Do Not Use”. For your safety, please adhere to the new signage, avoid short cuts, and stay on maintained paths.
