Experts to discuss ways to take action on poverty – March 27
Join the McMaster Community Poverty Initiative on March 27 for Beyond Income, a discussion aimed at exploring what the federal and provincial governments can do to reduce poverty.
Hear from experts about what a comprehensive poverty reduction plan could looks like beyond income and how you can get involved and take action!

Speakers include:
Natalie Appleyard, Socio-economic Policy Analyst at Citizens for Public Justice, will be representing Dignity for All. Dignity for All is a national anti-poverty campaign that has been a key advocate for a national anti-poverty plan. In light of the federal government’s forthcoming Poverty Reduction Strategy to be released in 2018, Natalie will speak about the need for a comprehensive plan that includes both income security measures and strong social programs to ensure well-being.
Laura Cattari is a Campaign Coordinator for the Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction, the President of Canada without Poverty, and a member of an advisory group working with the Ontario government on reforming social assistance. Laura will speak about the Fix the Gap campaign and to the provincial poverty reduction efforts and how social assistance reform is part of a poverty reduction plan.
