McMaster's dance company received high praise from judges
this month for creativity and originality after participating in the
American College Dance Festival.

The festival was held at Bowling Green State University in Ohio
from March 9 to 12.

The McMaster Dancers presented two adjudicated works and
one piece in an informal concert. McMaster was one of more
than 20 universities presenting 36 choreographic works in this
adjudicated competition. It was the only Canadian university that
participated.

“UNTIL 1988,” a dance choreographed by Tomiko Robson, a
Level IV Arts & Sciences Program student, about the
Japanese-Canadian internment during the Second World War,
was selected by the judges to be performed in the competition
gala, which showcased a final nine dances.

The dancers were Heather Finn, Level IV Arts & Science,
Debbie Heard, Level III Arts & Science, and Kelly VanderBoom,
Level IV kinesiology. Dave Wilson, professor of kinesiology, is
the troupe's director.
