Dana Cooke Takes Over as Head Coach of Men’s Volleyball Team

The McMaster Marauder Men's Volleyball team will have a new Head Coach for the 2000-2001 season. Dana Cook will take over as Head Coach after completing the 1999-2000 season as an Assistant Coach and Trainer for the Men's Volleyball program.

Dana will bring a lot of practical experience to the team having coached and played at the elite level. Before joining the Marauder Volleyball program last season Dana held the position of Head Trainer for an Italian men's professional team. Previous to that she served as an Assistant coach and Trainer for an elite amateur team in the Netherlands. Dana is currently working for All American Volleyball Camps were she is in charge of various aspects of the camp curriculum.

Dana is no stranger to the volleyball court having had an outstanding playing career while at Michigan State University. Dana was named a Big Ten Conference All-Star, Big Ten Academic All-Star, an Academic All-American, and a 1st team All-American. She also won numerous NCAA tournament MVP honors throughout her intercollegiate career. After graduating from Michigan State, she played professionally in the Netherlands. Dana's experience on and off the court should pay huge dividends for the Men's Volleyball program in the future.

Director of Athletics & Recreation, Therese Quigley, stated, “we welcome Dana Cooke to our Marauder coaching staff. Dana brings a wealth of experience to our Men's Volleyball program and will undoubtedly make a positive impact in establishing Marauder Volleyball within the OUA and the CIAU.”

Dana's first home game coaching the Marauders is on October 28th at 8:00pm when McMaster plays host to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. The Men's Volleyball team opens their season at Guelph on October 4th at 7:30 pm.
