Andrea Baumann has been appointed as Director of McMaster Health

Dr. Andrea Baumann has been appointed as Director of McMaster Health
Sciences International effective July 1, 2000.

Dr. Baumann is the Associate Dean of Health Sciences (Nursing) and
Professor
in the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster
University.
She was instrumental in developing the relationship between McMaster
University and The University of Sharjah. Dr. Baumann holds several
leadership positions including Chair of the Pan American Nursing and
Midwifery Collaborating Centres; Director of a World Health Organization

Collaborating Centre in Primary Health Care; and Project Director for
The
Development of Women Health Professionals in Karachi, Pakistan.

Dr. Baumann's research is extensive. She is the Co-Director of the
Utilization and Outcomes Research Unit at McMaster and her area of
research
includes health human resource planning, production, and management,
health
systems; clinical decision making and quality of worklife. Dr. Baumann
has
published extensively in her areas of research.

Dr. Baumann succeeds Dr. Kinsey Smith, the founding Director of the
McMaster International School who retired on July 1, 2000.
