posted on Oct. 23: Four new scholarships established under Futures Fund
Children of members of the University's salaried pension plan are
eligible for four new scholarships created by the McMaster University
Futures Fund (MUFF) Committee.
Three scholarships worth $1,500 each will be awarded to children of members of the University's salaried pension plan who have completed at least their first year of study at McMaster.
The recipients must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and must obtain a full-load average of 9.5 or greater to be eligible for the McMaster University Futures Fund In-Course Awards.
A fourth scholarship, known as the McMaster University Futures Fund
Award, will be given to a student in his or her graduating year. This $500 scholarship will be awarded to a McMaster student who
demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and has obtained an
average of 9.5 or greater.
Students who are interested in the scholarships need to apply to the
Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships by April 15. Application forms will be available in mid-March. The scholarships will be awarded in July 2001.
Established this year, the scholarships are a MUFF committee initiative linked to the current “Changing Tomorrow Today” fundraising campaign.
Campaign donations made by faculty and staff designated specifically to scholarships will be matched to a maximum of $100,000 to establish the McMaster University Futures Fund awards.
The MUFF money is the interest earned by the University on cash that,
because of limitations imposed by Revenue Canada, cannot be remitted to the pension plan. The Board of Governors established the fund in 1996.
