Mathematics & statistics professor, Miroslav Lovric, is a recipient of this year's OCUFA Teaching and Academic Librarianship Awards.

Deborah Flynn, president of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations, announced the recipients of the annual award on May 9.

“These are the men and women who both inspire and inform their students. The recipients of the teaching awards go that extra mile to ensure that their students receive the very best in course development, instruction and research.”

Lovric is no stranger to such accolades. He received the President's Teaching Award at the Spring 1999 Convocation.

And since he began lecturing in 1991, students have praised his ability to simplify complex concepts to an understandable level. The calculus professor has been nominated annually for the McMaster Students Union's Teaching Awards and was the overall teaching award winner in 1994.

In addition to teaching, Lovric has been active in promoting learning and interest in mathematics through competitions. He has developed and significantly improved several math courses and written a textbook called Vector Calculus.
