Two part-time health sciences professors whose endeavours have made a difference to the Faculty's educational initiatives are being honoured with the John C. Sibley Award.

Helen Kirkpatrick, assistant clinical professor, School of Nursing, and Fran Scott, associate professor of clinical epidemiology & biostatistics, are co-recipients of the award, which recognizes their unique and outstanding contributions to the richness and effectiveness of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Kirkpatrick is recognized for her excellent record of educational involvement, including her sustained commitment to interdisciplinary education and to the evaluation of patient care outcomes within the Schizophrenia Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program at the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital.

Scott is recognized for her sustained and excellent contributions to the education of students from a variety of Faculty and University programs, both through direct teaching as well as through tireless efforts in educational planning and development.

The award for part-time health sciences faculty was established in 1985 and named for one of the Faculty's founders in recognition of his vision and dedication to McMaster.

This award recognizes special qualities and commitment above and beyond a specific educational role, including the fostering of innovative educational activities, development of interdisciplinary education, encouragement of research and education regarding quality of patient care outcomes, and participation in international health activities with an educational focus.

In addition to Kirkpatrick and Scott, the following part-time faculty members were nominated for this award this year: Fred Baxter, associate clinical professor, Department of Anesthesia; Lori Edey, clinical lecturer, Department of Family Medicine; Lee Ann Fenn, associate clinical professor, Department of Pediatrics; Ryszard Mizera, associate clinical professor, Department of Medicine; Michael Stephenson, associate clinical professor, Department of Family Medicine; Harold Stolberg, clinical professor, diagnostic radiology (cardiac-thoracic) and research associate, health care research in radiology; and Jim Williams, assistant clinical professor, Department of Family Medicine.
