Annual campus cancer drive begins
April, the month of showers and flowers, also brings the Canadian Cancer Society's annual fundraising campaign to McMaster.
Every McMaster employee or retiree will have received a letter containing a brief report on the main activities of the Canadian Cancer Society, including its research grants to McMaster, and a request for a donation. As the organization relies entirely on public donations to fund its activities, it hopes for a strong response to its on-campus campaign.
Campaign manager Frank Jones, a McMaster retiree, proudly reports that 64 donors contributed $3991 last year. “This increase over the previous year, although small, is much appreciated,” says Jones. “Although I am aware of the intense pressure for funds to support activities of many voluntary organizations, it seems realistic to expect, given a target population of over 4000, more donors to the Canadian Cancer Society's appeal for donations.”
